If you want to enjoy an evening of enchanting solo piano, storytelling and some whimsical jazz improvisation by two engaging and talented performers, then make plans to attend the January 17 piano concert featuring Kevin Kern and Louis Landon.
The 7 p.m. concert takes place in the Mission Viejo City Hall Saddleback Room at 200 Civic Center.
For more than a decade, Steinway artist Kevin Kern has been synonymous with beautiful melodic music. A native of Detroit, Kern began playing the piano at the tender age of 18 months.
Though legally blind since birth, his exceptional talent soon became clear. The influences of lifelong friend and mentor jazz great George Shearing and Detroit Symphony Pianist Mischa Kottler helped Kern to develop an early love of improvisation and an appreciation for the beautiful sound a piano could produce.
Louis Landon is a Steinway artist who has dedicated his life to music. His career has taken him around the world playing an array of styles with some of the most recognized names in the entertainment industry – Mikhail Baryshnikov; “Pucho and his Latin Soul Brothers”; John Hall; and others. For the past 24 years, through his production company Landon Music, he has written and produced music for film, video and commercials including three years of “best plays” and “bloopers” commercials for the National Basketball Association.
Tickets for this special concert are $10 and are available at the door or by calling 949-470-8440.
