In an effort to keep the business community safe, Mission Viejo Police Services is encouraging businesses to register with its newly updated Business Watch program. Business Watch is a free program that provides businesses with information, strategies and education targeted at reducing or eliminating commercial crime in Mission Viejo.
Modeled after the Neighborhood Watch Program, Business Watch encourages businesses to work together with law enforcement to prevent crime in the business community. These types of cooperative efforts ensure a successful crime-fighting team and offer mutual aid assistance during disasters. The program also provides merchants with annual training opportunities hosted at City facilities. The trainings focus on crime prevention topics to strengthen merchant awareness and security.
Besides training, Business Watch offers an array of benefits including prompt after-hours emergency notifications, crime prevention bulletins and notifications of recent crime trends in the business community.
To register today, access the Business Watch application at www.cityofmissionviejo.org/policeservices or clickhere. Once received, information from the application will be added to the department’s confidential database. This information is essential for allowing Police Services to contact business owners if a crime occurs at their business or in the event of an emergency.
To finalize registration, someone from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department will visit the business and adhere a Business Watch sticker with a member ID number to the storefront window.
