Ocean Institute is pleased to welcome Antarctica researcher Ari Friedlaender on Wednesday, April 22, for a private reception at 5 p.m. and main event presentation 6-8 p.m. Friedlaender will be sharing stories from Unframable, his new book about Antarctica; members of the public can purchase copies of the book and have it signed by Friedlaender after the presentation.
Over the course of 25 trips to Antarctica, Friedlaender’s research program used tag technology to study the underwater behavior of marine mammals leading to many discoveries about whales. Using photography, Friedlaender has sought to shed light on some of the unique aspects of the Antarctic inhabitants and the threats that this fragile ecosystem now faces.
The cost to attend the lecture is $5 for Ocean Institute Members and $10 for General Admission. There will also be a special reception with Ari Friedlaender before the lecture, which includes a copy of the book and admission to the event for $55.
