This summer, the Festival of Arts presents two new exhibits featuring long-time Festival artist and Laguna Beach resident Rob Gage. Gage’s photography career stretches over four decades and has brought him to nearly 80 countries and all 50 U.S. states. The free exhibits at foaSOUTH and Wells Fargo Laguna Beach serve as a look back at his career, as well as a look into his present works. His new work, a series titled “Form and Grace,” will be on display at the Festival of Arts July 5 – August 31, 2015.

Rob Gage, Looking Back is an exhibit presenting a wide range of this artist’s abilities, ranging from a 40+ year involvement in commercial photography merging into the personalized views as a fine art photographer. “Rob’s expertise and keen eye have given him an amazing portfolio and has helped shape him as one of the preeminent photographers of our time,” said Ron Morrissette, Festival of Arts Director of Exhibits. “This exhibit gives viewers a mere glimpse through an amazing eye.”

For the last five years, Rob Gage has focused on his Ballet Project featuring dancers in unique environments and behaviors. “Ballet is a photographer’s dream,” said Gage. “The dancers are trained to communicate with their bodies. Their focus is precise. They dance because they love it, not because they have to.”
ABOUT ROB GAGE
Rob Gage has been an advertising photographer for more than 40 years and is based in Laguna Beach, California. He graduated from the Art Center College of Design and was hired to work in Detroit. After six years, he and his family relocated to England where he opened his first studio located in an old electrical generating station. He lived in England for three years and travelled to most of the neighboring countries shooting automobile ads. Jaguar became his largest client. Afterwards, Rob moved back to the United States and settled back in California where he worked for over 25 years shooting cars and traveling for photo shoots. He is now retired working for local and clients and his own personal projects.
