One-day Event to Raise Awareness During
National Child Abuse Awareness Month
What: April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Orange County program of STANDUP FOR KIDS, will be hosting a family roller skating night in an effort to raise awareness about the reality of teenage homelessness. The goal of the event will be to promote the importance of family bonding to build a strong familial foundation.
Why: STANDUP FOR KIDS believes it is vital to their mission to increase awareness about child abuse, as it affects a large number of children in our community regardless of their background. According to the Orangewood Children’s Foundation child abuse Statistics,* in the 2007-2008 fiscal year there were 41,119 reported cases of neglected, abandoned or abused children, ranging in age from newborns to 18-year-old teenagers, in Orange County.
Where: Holiday Skate Center, 175 N. Wayfield St., Orange, CA
When: Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
