The Orange County Transportation Authority is doing its part to keep roads safe for people ringing in the New Year by offering free bus rides from 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31, 2015 to 2:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1, 2016.
Passengers planning a bus ride are encouraged to use the online trip planner in advance at octa.net or by calling 714-636-7433. Extended times may vary depending on the route.
“We are proud to offer this free service for the 14th consecutive year,” said OCTA Chairman Jeff Lalloway. “This is a safe and easy option for people celebrating the start of 2016 to get around during the holiday and a good way to try out public transit.”
Last year, more than 9,000 riders took advantage of the free bus service on New Year’s Eve and about 130,000 have used it since it began in 2002.
