Ocean Institute to Offer Sea Tech Summer Program for Youth Ages 12-14

Date:

Registration is open now for the Ocean Institute’s Sea Tech program for youth ages 12-14, which will be held the week of August 8-12, 9 am. – 4 p.m.
This camp investigates the technology used by ocean scientists in their research. Activities each day will focus on the principles of constructing a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). Campers will work as a team to assemble, wire the controls and design the tools for their ROV mission. While aboard the R/V Sea Explorer, campers will use research equipment to gather information on water chemistry and the sea floor to understand our ocean environment. On the last day, campers will test their skills piloting their ROVs in underwater challenges from the floating platform of the Maddie James Seaside Learning Center.
Cost is $350, or become an Ocean Institute member and receive a discounted $265 price. Register online at http://www.ocean-institute.org/summer-camp/sea-tech or call (949) 496-2274 for additional information.
