New chief of police in Mission Viejo

Lt. Binning, who last worked at the James A. Musick Facility, steps into the position with a wealth of law enforcement experience and familiarity with this City – which is continually ranked as one the safest in California.  He spent eight years in Mission Viejo as a sergeant and traffic enforcement deputy.  Lt. Binning’s roots in this community run deep on a personal level, too.  His kids were born and raised here and he has called Mission Viejo home for more than two decades.

Along with serving this community, Lt. Binning also served our country from 1983 to 1993.  A captain in the Marine Corps, Lt. Binning was a helicopter pilot, aviation safety officer and director of safety and standardization.

The City of Mission Viejo is happy to have Lt. Binning as a new member of its outstanding team.
