New Website, www.DoxaSports.com, to Give Public Opportunity to Watch “Run 50k to Raise $50k” Fundraiser Live and Online at The Block
ORANGE, CALIF., May , 2009 – The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Orange County/Inland Empire Chapter and Doxa Multimedia, Inc. are pleased to announce the launching of the “Run 50k to Raise $50k” event website, www.DoxaSports.com. The website will present the inaugural “Run 50k to Raise $50k” benefit featuring marathoner/fundraiser Steve Chaparro of Fontana.
Chaparro will run 50 km (31 miles) on a treadmill to raise $50,000 for blood cancer research and awareness, on Saturday, May 23, 1 – 6 p.m. The site will provide the public with the opportunity to watch the event live and donate online; members of the public are also welcome to attend in person at The Block at Orange in its AMC Theater Plaza.
Steve Chaparro remarked, “I am pleased and excited to partner with LLS, The Block at Orange, and www.DoxaSports.com for this exciting charity event. We are expecting an awesome turnout both in person and online. We encourage the community to reach into their hearts and support the cause to find a cure for blood cancers. Blood cancers claim the most lives of young children and adults under the age twenty that are stricken with cancer.”
Janine Ingram, LLS’ Executive Director, encouraged community support for the event, explaining, “Blood cancers cause the deaths of over 50,000 Americans each year, nearly 10% of our nation’s cancer-related deaths. Researchers have made tremendous strides in recent years in their battle against blood cancers, and the more money we can raise, the quicker we can achieve our ultimate goal, a cure.”
