Dear Parents,
You are invited to hear an incredible story of courage and hope in the DJAMS Multipurpose Room from 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19. This is the story of Rachel Scott, the first victim in the Columbine High School Tragedy. She has left behind an amazing legacy and a simple challenge to anyone who accepts it: Treat others with kindness and compassion and you just may change the world you live in. This presentation will move you and give you insight on how DJAMS students and staff will carry out “Rachel’s Challenge” this school year. This evening event is for parents only.

7TH/8TH GRADE DANCE ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23
We will have our first 7th/8th grade dance from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., in the MPR, on Friday, October 23. Permission slips will be handed out on Monday, October 19. 6th graders will enjoy a fun lunchtime activity.
REFLECTIONS ENTRIES ARE DUE MONDAY!
Reflections entries are due to the Attendance Office by the end of school on Monday, October 19. Entry forms are available from your teacher or online at djamsptsa.org. PTSA RESTAURANT NIGHTS FOR OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER
Save the Date for a Domino’s Pizza Night – Tuesday, October 27. Flyers will be in the front office next week or you can simply write “Don Juan Avila Middle School” on a piece of paper and give it to the cashier or delivery person!
Chili’s Restaurant Night – Wednesday, November 4, 4:00 – 10:30 pm, dine in or take out. Print out a flyer from Edline or from djamsptsa.org.
