Two Districtwide Forums Scheduled
Parents and community members are invited to participate in two important forums in upcoming weeks. First, Superintendent Joe Farley will hold a “Conversation with the Superintendent” on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater at San Clemente High School. San Clemente High School is located at 700 Avenida Pico, San Clemente. Parents and community members are invited to join the conversation as Superintendent Joe Farley answers questions about school facilities, the 2014-2015 budget, the search for a new superintendent, and other items of interest to stakeholders.
On Thursday, April 3, the District will host a community forum on the Local Control Accountability Plan, which is a part of the new funding mechanism for California schools. That meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and take place in the Board Room of the Education Center, 33122 Valle Road, San Juan Capistrano. Nominate Your Favorite Classified Employee
The nomination period for the Capistrano Unified School District 2013 Classified Employee of the Year Program is now open.
Nominations will be accepted in six categories: Child Nutrition; Maintenance and Operations; Transportation; Para-Educator and Instructional Assistance; Office and Technical; and Support Services and Security. Nominees must be a classified employee of the Capistrano Unified School District, including all schools (preschool through grade twelve) and central office departments, with at least five years of service in the nomination category.
Signed nomination forms are due in the Communications Office by Friday, March 21. Applications are available online at www.capousd.org and at school sites. Transportation dispatchers, secretaries, mechanics, campus supervisors, groundskeepers, delivery drivers, and accounting technicians are just a few of the job titles eligible to be nominated for the award.
District winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony on Monday, May 19.

These SAT/ACT courses teach students content, strategies, and test-taking techniques for their chosen college admissions exam. All sections of the tests are covered including the handwritten essay portions. In addition, every student will have access to archived lessons, more drills and college admissions information.
Course Fees: $899* for Ultimate (Retail = $1099) This is a 30-hour course plus 16 testing hours
$549* for Classroom (Retail $699) This is an 18-hour course plus 16 testing hours

CAREER CENTER
South Coast ROP/Career Center News:
The ROP/Career Center will be hosting the Armed Services Vocational Attitude Battery exam (ASVAB) on March 26, 2014 at 7:55 a.m. in the Tesoro HS Library. The ASVAB exam is offered to sophomore, junior and senior students. If you would like to take this free exam please see Mrs. Marquez in the Career Center. You can stop by the Career Center to pick up the ASVAB permission form or print the attached copy. Form must be signed by one parent or guardian and returned to the Career Center before the exam date. No late students will be admitted in the Library once the exam begins.
ROP Information:
Students if you have questions regarding ROP classes please see Mrs. Marquez in the Career Center. To enroll in an ROP class you must complete the ROP enrollment form with Mrs. Marquez. ROP classes may earn students high school elective credit and a grade. Some ROP classes also sequence to classes at Saddleback or Santa Ana College. For additional information or questions stop by the Career Center and see Mrs. Marquez, or reach her via school loop, email: jmmarquez@capousd.org, or by phone (949) 234-5303. The Career Center is open Monday – Friday from 7:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. (closed for lunch 1-2) and all students are welcome.
Work permit Information:
Summer is around the corner will you have a summer job? Do you know how to obtain a work permit?
Work permits are located in the Career Center and may be downloaded from the Tesoro website under College and Career link, click on ROP. Make sure once you are hired to follow the directions before you submit the completed work permit. For additional questions see Mrs. Marquez.
