September is “Library Card Sign-up Month,” a time when the Mission Viejo Library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to ensure that every student has the most import school supply of all – a free library card.
Resources at the Mission Viejo Library are available to anyone with a library card. Students can turn to the library for materials, programs and services that support academic achievement. For others, the library is a place for entertainment, culture and lifelong learning.
During September, the library is celebrating the power of the library card with some fun activities – every new library cardholder who signs up gets to spin a prize wheel and win something extra to take home. Patrons will also receive free replacement cards (normally $2) for the entire month.
Folks can also get creative and show off their cards in the “Library Card Selfie” contest – take a picture with your Mission Viejo Library Card and submit it for a chance to win. Simply submit your photo via Twitter or Instagram with hashtag #mvlibrarycard or email it to libreference@cityofmissionviejo.org from September 1-30. The best entries will be displayed in the library and at http://www.cmvl.org. Six lucky participants will win a prize. Two winners – one youth and one adult – will be awarded in each of the following categories:
Contest rules are available at http://www.cmvl.org.
