Top wheelchair tennis champ looking to defend her Masters title in Mission Viejo

Date:

Yui KamijiWheelchair tennis champion Yui Kamiji is looking to defend her 2013 Masters Doubles Champion title when the UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters returns to the Marguerite Tennis Pavilion November 5 – 9.

Last year, the left-handed wonder from Japan teamed up with Jordanne Whiley of Great Britain to outlast Sabine Ellerbrock of Germany and Kgothatso Montjane of the Republic of South Africa. Since that match, Yui has added Doubles titles from the Australian, French and Wimbledon Opens and is currently the #1 ranked player in the world.

She will be among the top doubles wheelchair tennis players on the planet to compete in Mission Viejo for the Masters titles in three divisions – Men’s, Women’s and Quads.  The Doubles Masters, one of the International Tennis Federation’s most prestigious tournaments, is the last stop on the professional wheelchair tennis tour.

In 2013, Mission Viejo was the first U.S. city to host the Masters in the 20-year history of the championships. This year, the City is expecting professionals from more than a dozen countries to compete in Mission Viejo for over $60,000 in prize money.
