Olympica Gymnastics optionals teams competed in their second meet of the season at the 2019 San Diego Classic this past weekend. The Level 8 team won first place and took home 7 top individual awards. Rancho Mission Viejo’s Kaitlyn Driessen took home the silver on vault with a 9.225 and the gold on floor with a 9.425. She was also the All-Around Champion with a score of 36.250. Julia Rojas of San Clemente was the bars and beam champion, scoring 9.500 on bars and 9.450 on beam. In the Level 8 younger division, Holly Carter (Aliso Viejo) took third on floor with a 9.500 and Samantha Hayes (Ladera Ranch) tied for third on bars with a 9.150.
Level 9 gymnasts, Natalie Bray (Dana Point) and Zita Conot (Mission Viejo), also had a great meet. Natalie took the silver on vault with a score of 9.175 and the bronze in the All Around. Zita was the floor exercise champion, scoring 9.400, and she earned the bronze on vault with a 9.025. Cameron Craycraft of Ladera Ranch took the silver on beam with a score of 9.050 in the Level 7 division.Kylie Phillips of Laguna Niguel took home two silver medals in the Level 6 younger division. She scored a 9.650 on floor and 9.075 on vault. In the Level 6 middle division, Bela Block of Aliso Viejo took second place on floor with a 9.450 and Addison Malue (Mission Viejo) took third on vault scoring an 8.900. Olympica’s gymnasts are looking forward to their next meet, which will be held in Colorado Springs. The Pikes Peak Cup takes place February 8-10.
