SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL
ELECTION INFORMATION
One of the most critical committees at our school for parents to get involved in is School Site Council (SSC). The SSC consists of twelve elected staff members and parents who meet up to five times per year on Wednesdays from 2:30 – 4:00PM to make decisions pertaining to the school. The members of this council make critical decisions regarding policies, goals and budgets for the school. As we do each year, an election is held to fill open positions from the parent community. We are in need of parents to participate on the SSC and there are three parent openings. The elected positions will begin a two-year term on the SSC beginning in October. Please consider this an opportunity to become an active participant in the education of your child.
If you are interested in participating in the election to serve on Canyon Vista’s School Site Council, please complete this form and return it to your child’s teacher or via email to dpmahoney@capousd.org by Monday, October 4, 2010. Each candidate’s brief statement will be included on the ballot. Voting will occur at Back to School Nights, Tuesday, October 5th for Kindergarten, Wednesday, October 6th 1st-2nd grades, and Thursday, October 7th for 3rd-5th grades. If you are unable to attend Back to School Night, you can still vote by requesting a ballot in the office.
