CUSD APPOINTS INTERIM PRINCIPAL AT CHAPARRAL ELEMENTARY
At its meeting on March 24th, the Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Ms. Debi Culbertson as Interim Principal at Chaparral Elementary School. Ms. Culbertson will be replacing current Principal, Dr. Kevin Rafferty, who will be departing April 3rd to open Davis Elementary, a math/science/technology magnet school in Newport Mesa Unified District. After opening both Oak Grove and Chaparral Elementary Schools, Dr. Rafferty looks forward to the opportunity to gain a new professional experience in working at a magnet school. “It is my goal to help make Davis the finest science, math and technology magnet school in the United States,” noted Rafferty.
Ms. Culbertson comes to Chaparral having served in the district since 2000 as a teacher, Assistant Principal, Reading First Grant Administrator and Summer School Principal. Prior to entering education, Culbertson served as a business manager and trainer for executive management. “I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity to work with an amazing group of students, teachers, and parents,” said Culbertson. “It is my intent to continue to support the Chaparral community in achieving its outstanding academic excellence.”
