Eligible lifeguard candidates can receive discount on certification

Roughly two dozen lifeguard positions are available for the season that runs from May 3 through September 28.

Lifeguard morning and afternoon shifts are available for experienced candidates who must be at least 17 years of age and may be eligible to obtain American Red Cross certification through the Aquatic Center for the reduced rate of $50. The normal certification cost is $200.

The Aquatic Center is a resort-style complex overlooking the golf course at 29 Santa Barbara. The center features a swim team, swim lessons, lap and recreational swim, private pool parties and numerous activities and events throughout the season. The center boasts a junior Olympic 5-lane lap pool, recreational pool, children’s wading pool, toddler splash pad, adult whirl pool, Oasis Cafe, locker facilities, restrooms, and a patio with an outdoor patio fireplace.

The salary range for lifeguards is $10-$12 per hour. New employees will begin at the end of this month to be ready for the center’s May 3 grand opening.

To apply for a lifeguard position, contact Brandon Huxford at 949-425-2556 or e-mail avaquatics@kempersports.com.
